BC Drivers Licences now have eight digits: Due to ICBCs update to enhance BC Drivers Licences all 7-digit DL numbers must be entered with a zero (0) at the beginning to make the 8-digit Drivers Licence numbers. This applies to applicants, directors, and drivers with a BC Drivers Licence named on a National Safety Code Safety Certificate Application.
Online Knowledge Test: A passed knowledge test is required during the application review process for all applicants regardless of location in the province, or the type and size of operations. You will need to obtain a business BCeID in order to complete the test. Please read NSC Notice 01-2021 for full details.
Extended Processing Time: Due to continuing high volumes of applications, the current wait time for applications to be reviewed is six to eight (6 to 8) weeks. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. There is no option to pay for expedited service.
If you have a credit card, you can complete and submit an application and $200 non-refundable application processing fee over the Internet by clicking on the following link for the new NSC Safety Certificate On-line Application. Priority will be given to applications completed on-line. Personal information is collected by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure under section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) for assessing application into the National Safety Code Program.
